Why Must I Forgive?

Some Words of Wisdom on Forgiveness by Dada J P Vaswani

  1. If you wish to live a richer life with an uncluttered soul and a mind free from hatred and resentment, learn to forgive.
  2. How many times should I forgive? I am tired of forgiving. Forgive as many times as you would wish God to forgive you.
  3. Forgiveness is the noblest virtue. Forgiveness is above justice. Justice seeks to punish, forgiveness seeks reconciliation.
  4. Forgiveness is the precious lubricant which keeps all our relationships smooth and friction-free.
  5. Let forgiveness be the law of your life. Forgive even before forgiveness is asked.
  6. When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. If you would be truly happy, love one another. Meet hatred with love and forgiveness.
  7. We must understand that forgiveness blesses the forgiver more than the forgiven one. Self-reproach and guilt only waste your spiritual energy. Forgive yourself – and live for today.
  8. It is the EGO that does not forgive, it is the EGO that does not forget and we are unhappy as a result. Why make your EGO make you unhappy? Kick your EGO.
  9. Anger ceaseth not by anger, anger ceaseth by forgiveness. Forgiveness is, perhaps, the most powerful antidote to anger.
  10. He who forgives his brother shall be forgiven by God. And he who forgives and forgets and loves his brother shall receive from God the gift of grace.
  11. Year after year Good Friday returns to remind us of our duty to forgive all who have offended us, exploited us or in any other way wronged us. (My personal favourite from the life of Jesus Christ i.e,. Forgiveness)
